TWILIGHTS BEST QUOTES

A SHORT LIST OF THE BEST QUOTES FOUND IN THE TWILIGHT BOOK AND MOVIE

Twilights best quotes are easily recognizable. When you see or hear one of these lines, you will be instantly reminded of Twilight.

Recreating the lines from the Movie is a trend that hasn’t stopped since it came out. Although these lines are often made fun of, they are also iconic.

I enjoy these quotes because they are in the book AND the movie. They also remind me what I love about reading: that simple words placed together well can become entire stories.

THE FIRST OF TWILIGHTS BEST QUOTES

“Id never given much thought to how I would die”

Did you recognize this as the opening line of Twilight? It appears in the book AND the movie!

After this line, however, things change. The book continues with:

“…though I’d had reason enough in the last few months — but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this. When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.”

Meanwhile, the movie altered the line to be:

‘…but dying in the place of someone I love seems like a pretty good way to go. So I can’t bring myself to regret the decision to leave home.

The difference is vast.

While the book is the original, it is also vague. The line is more of a foreshadowing of love and fantasy.

Undoubtable, the movie line is more forward and relevant. The movie focused less on Bella and Edwards love story and more on the drama and paranormal elements. It was a good cinematic decision, to change the opening line to be plot oriented.

"IN LOVE"

“About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him – and I didn’t know how potent that part might be – that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”

Unlike the previous quote, this one shows up in both the book and movie.

It is, without a doubt, a long quote. So long, in fact, that I did not post it on my Instagram page (like I did with other lines). Despite its length, it is concise and summarizes the story’s recent events. This quote, above all others, shows Stephanie Meyers control in writing and storytelling.

NOT TOO OLD

“How old are you?”-Bella
“Seventeen” – Edward
“How long have you been seventeen?” – Bella
“Awhile” – Edward

This is supposed to be a serious moment. Bella is just beginning to grasp how different Edward is, and Edward is slowly opening up to her.

However, these lines always make me giggle. Even if vampires were real, a conversation about age would not happen like this.

Out of everything that Edward is, his age is the most interesting. I do not understand how a game of 20 Questions didn’t immediately being. Bella, being the book lover that she is, should have asked a least one question about whether he has ever met a classic author.

On the other hand, the short and angsty reply of “awhile” is certainly in line with the personality of a teenage boy.

BOYS ARE COMPLICATED

“I said it would be better if we weren’t friends, not that I didn’t want to be” – Edward

Why must men be so complicated?

Had Edward just said what he wanted from the beginning, it would have saved all of the characters a lot of trouble. It also would have saved us readers from a lot of repetitive internal monologuing from Bella.

Also, “friendship” is not what either of them want.

Young love is so…. complicated.

Unfortunately, this line is NOT in the movie. I included it in the post because it SHOULD BE!

IRONY

“He looks at you like….like youre something to eat” – Mike

This might very well be the most ironic line in the entire series, or maybe it’s just my personal favorite out of all the “Twilights Best Quotes”.

Mike, in the book, is annoying and clingy. He clearly has a crush on Bella and despises Edward. These traits are also in the movie, however, he is also more likeable and friendly.

In both the book and movie, Mike says this iconic phrase. It is true that Edward looked at Bella like she was something to eat. Throughout the entire movie, Edward looks at Bella like she is the main meal. It’s funny. Especially since Mike doesn’t even realize how accurate he is.

Clearly, I am easily entertained.

ANGSTY TEEN

“Im the worlds best predator, aren’t I? Everything about me invites you in – my voice, my face, even my smell. As if I need any of that!…. As if you could outrun me…. Af if you could fight me off….

*in the film, the line starts “Im the worlds most dangerous predator…”

The scene occurs when Edward takes Bella into the meadow and they finally have the big important conversation. Edward loses his temper for a moment and tries to scare Bella away. Of course, Bella is not so easily frightened.

Have you seen the TikTok videos of this line? They are incredibly funny! I am truly surprised by the amount of Twilight viewers who recreate this movie scene.

ALL of the recreations are just as cringy as the original.  I highly recommend them!

ITS COMPLICATED

“Another complication – Edward

This is not a well-known or recreated line from Twilight. However, it is one of the few lines that appear in both the book and movie.

“Another complication.” This is what Edward says when Billy and Jacob roll up to the Swan residence while Edward is dropping Bella off. The scene in the book and movie occurs a little differently, but the general implications are the same. Edward is an unwelcome guest in Forks and should not be near Bella, as far as Billy is concerned.

THE MOST WELL KNOWN OF TWILIGHTS BEST QUOTES - STUPID LAMP

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…” – Edward

 “ What a stupid lamb” – Bella

“ What a sick, masochistic lion.” – Edward

This line is a metaphor from Edward and Bellas relationship. Edward is the predator and Bella is the pray. They both fight their natural instincts to love each other.

The creators of Twilight really had a thing for animals….

The Twilight book and movie both contain multiple references to wild animals. Lions, lambs, and monkeys are the most well-known.

LAST ON THE LIST OF TWILIGHTS BEST QUOTES: OVERPROTECTIVE

“We’ll be watching” – Jacob, on behalf of Billy

At the end of the story, Bella goes to prom.

Jacob crashes the prom in a semi-fancy outfit to give Bella a message from Billy (and the Tribes counsel.) Sweet, young Jacob thinks it’s silly. Bella understands that Billy s just being protective. Edward knows that he is being watched and has to be careful with Bella, or all of the Cullens will be hunted by the pack.

There are a lot of dramatic implications in this scene. Jacobs silly outfit and boyish charm give a lot of relief to the situation.
