Millie Bobby-Brown captured audiences with her role as Eleven in the hit Netflix show, Stranger Things. Now, she has moved away from sci-fi and into detective work. Playing Sherlock Holmes’ little sister, Millie Bobby Brown will be playing the role of Enola Homles….again!
The first Enola Holmes movie is already up on Netflix. It is a great movie for all ages. Although there are quite a few references that younger kids probably won’t understand. Regardless of that fact, this show was made for everyone to enjoy!
This movie is based on a book series by Nancy Springer. Besides a great original mystery plot, you can also expect references to the original Sherlock Holmes stories. They appeared in the first film, and I have no doubt that more will show up in this second movie.
This Sherlock Holmes spin-off movie was set to come out in March 2022, but some big things put a pause on the release date. Still, you can expect to watch this with your friends, family, and a big bowl of popcorn sometime this year.
WHO IS ENOLA HOLMES?
Enola Holmes is a self-made detective.
She didn’t intend to become one, but circumstances propelled her to follow in her older brother’s footsteps.
She is a young woman who hadn’t experienced much of the world, yet she is very educated. She knows art, self-defense, science, literature, and so much more. In fact, she knows a great many things that girls her age don’t typically learn. Her mom was very intent on giving Enola all the skills that she could ever need as a woman.
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST MOVIE?
Don’t worry, readers, I wont give you too many spoilers if you still have not seen the first Enola Holmes movie.
In short, Enola Holmes makes herself into a detective when she finds her mother, and best friend has disappeared! She quickly rides off to London, where she gets herself into a lot of trouble. She does most of this while trying to avoid and elude her two over-protective brothers.
Enola followers clues- makes friends, makes plenty of enemies, and discovers some dark secrets.
Not that I think you might make the mistake of watching the second season without watching the first…. but… be sure to watch the first season on Netflix ASAP!
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT IN ENOLA HOLMES 2?
Again, I won’t give you any spoilers!
I will tell you that you can expect Enolas first tried-and-true mystery case! (I don’t really count the first season as a mystery case, for the learning curve).
The mystery involves an artist who has disappeared, Enola her identity, and more hiding from her brothers.
The BOOKS
These Enola Holmes movies didn’t just write themselves. They were based on books! (As are most of the movies and shows on this website…. we love a good adaptation!)
The books were written by American writer Nancy Springer and published by Penguin Random House. She published the first book, titled Enola Holmes: The Case of the Missing Marquess, in 2006, which Enola Holmes Season 1 is based on.
Five other stories have followed, making this a 6-part series.
The second book, titled Enola Holmes: The Case of the Left-Handed Lady, is what you will see in Season 2 of the Netflix show.
If you haven’t read the books yet, then you should! I ALWAYS recommend reading the books before watching the corresponding movie or show. You will get a better insight into the complex characters and their motivations for all the events that will take place.
Plus, it’s fun to judge whether or not the movie (or, in this case, TV Show) matches the book.
CONCLUSION
Enola Holmes Season 2 comes out on Netflix sometime this year. You can expect to watch it sometime in July or August. Season 1 is already out, so you can watch that now while you await this amazing second installment of the Sherlock Holmes spin-off.
