WHEN WILL THESE MOVIES AND SHOWS FINISH FILMING?
Some of these productions have actually already finished filming. However, some require post-production and even re-shoots, which is why their release dates have been pushed back.
It’s impossible to say when things will pick up and when production all across Hollywood will go back to some type of “normal”.
In 1980, actors stopped working and it lasted for three months. In 1988, the Screenwriters Guild strikes went on for 158 days. The writer’s strike in 2007 lasted for 100 days. This strike, in 2023, began on May 2nd, and initially had over 11,500 Hollywood workers involved.
ARE THERE ANY MOVIES OR SHOWS THAT WILL ACTUALLY CONTINUE?
Don’t worry, not every entertainment production has stopped filming. In fact, the writer’s strike seems to be confined to Hollywood and SAG (the Screen Actos Guild). So other associations, especially ones in other countries, such as Equity in the United Kingdom, can continue to work. However, members of Equity have publicly shown their support for the SAG/Hollywood writer’s strike.
One tv show that is still set to finish production and stream as scheduled is House of Dragons season 2.
