E.M Leander is a young adult fantasy indie author who also dabbles in the science fiction genre. E.M lives in the South with her husband, their two kids and a cranky old cat. What a busy lady! When she is not reading, writing or working her day job E.M spends her time with her family. Although Wren and the Tarnished Tiger was published in March, she is already writing the second book. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the bookish community!
Wren and the Tarnished Tiger follows Wren who is a lighthouse keeper who has a way with animals. When an injured tiger comes to her doorstep, she decides to help him, but when two unknown mages come to the lighthouse, she makes the tiger leave so that she doesn’t get into trouble. Wren learns that she has magic, which is why animals are drawn to her. The mages take her to a special school to help her learn how to control her magic, only they put a manacle on her wrist because they fear her.

My Review
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn’t put it down. It follows Wren who learns that she is a powerful mage in a continent that was taken over by a king. She is then taken to a special school where she will learn how to control her magic. While she is there Aris a shield chooses her during what they call the “games”. They are both then requested to return to the capital at the king’s request. While there Wren learns more about magic and starts to have feelings for Aris, and later on she learns he feels the same way. The power dynamic that Wren has is amazing. I love that Wren and Aris become more than friends as the story goes on. I can’t wait for book #2! This book gives total Harry Potter vibes! I absolutely loved this book!
What is E.M Leander Currently Working On?
I had the opportunity to speak with E.M Leander, and I learned that she is currently working on book two of the Game of Gods series Aris and the Obsidian Door. I also got a sneak peek about what this book will be about, it follows male protagonist Aris and his journey along with Wren his mage. The book will be in dual perspective just like the first one giving us a view of how the journey comes together. And don’t forget that there is a little romance going on in these books! Now E.M didn’t give me too much detail into the romance portion of the book but I’m hopeful that we will see some more romance brewing!
