Michael Deconzo is a fiction indie author who lives in Staten Island NY with his wife and black lab Gatsby. When he isn’t writing Michael teaches at a local school and spends time with his family. Before Michael was a writer, he was a real-life soda jerk for 8 years. Michael uses his life experience in his writing to make it that much more genuine. He likes to take morning walks with his dog Gatsby to get inspired. Two Nickels was Michael DeConzo’s introduction to the bookish world.
Two Nickels
Two Nickels follows thirty-year-old Johnny Romano who wants to be taken seriously, but with the choices he makes have put his relationship with soap opera star Laura Winters on the edge of a cliff. Two Nickels is set 10 days before Christmas in 1997, it follows a very unlikely pair through Manhattan and some spots in Statan Island as they look for the answer to a question that Johnny has done his best to avoid.
My Review
To be honest fiction is not my favorite genre however after reading Two Nickels it may have just changed my mind a bit. It starts off slow but picks up half way through the book and gets more interesting the more you read. I love that it’s set in New York at Christmas time. This book reminded me of the time I spent living in New Jersey and all the time I would travel to New York for fun. I highly recommend reading this book.

I had the opportunity to speak with Michael DeConzo, and I learned that he is currently working on the second installment of his Two Nickels series that is set to release sometime in the next few weeks. He is also going to be doing a reading of his book in Staten Island this June!
