UNLOCK NEW BOOK WORLDS WITH AUTHOR KEVIN COX

Author Kevin Cox has always been fascinated by the splendor of the universe and the mysteries it holds, using his imagination to fill in the vast unknown. Though he never planned to be a writer, he often had ideas for stories playing in his head. After deciding to write a single chapter to see if he could do it, he discovered a love for writing he never knew was there.

Much of his inspiration comes from growing up during the 80’s, reading and watching all the fantasy and science fiction stories he could find. Ideas come to him during long drives or while listening to music. He often listens to music while writing, especially songs that match the mood he is trying to capture.

He believes that a good story needs great characters that each have struggles and desire to find ways to overcome them. Kevin hopes that his readers will see their own struggles in these characters and are inspired to find their own strengths and always be learning and improving to be the best version of themselves. Connection with friends and willingness to help others are central themes in his writing.

Kevin lives in southwest Georgia in a small town called Leesburg. When he isn’t writing, he enjoys playing guitar and video games. Bewilderness is his debut novel, the first in a series.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Writing has been a great outlet for all the thoughts, theories and ideas that wander through my head. Anytime I get bored with what is going on around me, I end up lost in a daydream.

I have always been drawn to fantasy ever since I was introduced to the Chronicles of Narnia and The Hobbit. When I was growing up, the 80’s were ripe with fantasy movies as well. The Neverending StoryLabyrinthThe Dark Crystal were among my favorites. Later on, I also grew to love science fiction. I really enjoyed Michael Crichton’s books like Jurassic Park and The Sphere.

My first novel, Bewilderness, was chosen as one of Kirkus Reviews Top 100 Indie books of 2022. It was followed by the second book in the series, Shadowsphere which was published on September 14, 2022.

I was born in Southwest Georgia where I have lived ever since. As a kid I loved the outdoors and could often be found exploring the many wooded areas where I lived. A lot of inspiration from my stories comes from those days with friends, pretending we were on an epic adventure.

When I am not writing, I am really into music. I enjoy playing guitar and discovering new artists.

QUOTES FROM BEWILDERNESS

“There were things that began to roam about in the dark. They were called Nulthereals, the Whisperers. They seemed to be helping the curse. Many of the survivors called to them,” Sidaire said, “pleading with them to restore the plants. Several had simply given up hope they were so crippled by sadness and depression that no one was doing anything practical to try to solve the problem. Everyone stopped caring. The world began to fade into the desert you see now. Then sometime after that, villagers began to mysteriously go missing, one by one.”
Ambrielle stood out in the street for a while, looking up at all the stars in the sky. She reflected on the vastness of the universe, wondering where she fit into it, wondering where she even was in relation to Earth. Was she even in the same galaxy? What if it wasn’t the same galaxy? There were at least billions of them.
“Forgive me for saying, but I am glad that I am not organic. Emotions sound like a corruption in your systems, an impedance to efficient flow of information.”
“It started with a place out in the forest that everyone avoided, about a day’s walk from our village,” Sidaire said. “It was said to be a cursed, evil place.”
